Storage & Shelving

Classroom Storage Units and Shelving

This is the largest collection on the site, and it is not 86 unrelated products — it is one storage system with the options laid out separately. Once you understand how it is built, specifying a whole centre from it takes minutes instead of an afternoon.

How the system works

Every unit is a combination of four decisions. Backing: open, birch-backed, or acrylic-backed. Length: short or long horizontal. Shelves: one or two. Mobility: fixed or on casters. Add vertical dividers where you want the contents separated rather than sliding into one pile. Work out the four answers for a wall and the product name tells you exactly what you are ordering.

Choosing a backing

Open-backed units let light and sightlines through, which keeps a room feeling larger and lets an educator see across it. Birch-backed units close the view and work as a room divider, defining a corner without building a wall. Acrylic-backed does both — a solid surface that still passes light, useful when you want to break up a space without darkening it.

Casters, and when they earn their place

A mobile unit is not just easier to clean behind. It lets one room be several rooms across a day — open for free play, closed off for small groups, pushed aside for gross motor. The Educator mobile range, including the corner and sweep units, is built for rooms that get reconfigured constantly.

Books, where children can see them

Book browsers and book nooks display covers rather than spines, which is the difference between a child choosing a book and a child walking past a shelf. The double-sided mobile browsers serve two areas at once and can be turned to close a space off.

Built for a commercial room

Solid Baltic birch, low-VOC child-safe finishes, rounded edges and corners, weighted low so a unit does not come forward when a child pulls on it. Made in Moorefield, Ontario with a lifetime warranty. Not sure which configuration fits your wall? Our layout service maps the room before you order.
